Rally Clubs in Southern New England

In the late 60's and early 70's sports car clubs were very popular. For such a small state, Rhode Island had quite a few local clubs: Rhode Island Sports Car Club (née Volkswagon Club of RI), Corvette Club of Rhode Island, Narragansett Sports Car Club, and South County Motor Sports Club. On just about any weekend, if there wasn't a Sunday afternoon rally sponsored by one of these clubs then we only had to travel to nearby Fall River, Massachusetts to the Quequechan Sports Car Club, or just over the border into Connecticut to the Valley Sports Car Club.

Big events were hosted by larger clubs where they had proximity to broader rural locations and had the manpower to put on major events. The big names included Touring Club of New England, MG Car Club, and North Shore Touring Club.
