Free to good home
I have several pieces of computer and peripheral equipment that I don't use any more. Other items were given to me by people who don't use them either and might have otherwise discarded them. I don't want to dispose of them (even in an environmentally correct way) because, even if they are a little obsolete, most are fully functional working items. Some have limited functionality but maybe someone can use them anyway. I'm willing to give them away to a good home.
On the other hand, I also solicit items that are working or that perhaps I could repair or use for parts. I can't promise that they will end up with non-profit or charitable organizations and I might even keep them for myself. They will most likely appear on this page, however, available to anyone who asks for them.
If there's something here you could use or equipment that you
want to get rid of, contact me at
If you need any of this equipment for yourself, you're welcome to it. Please don't take the equipment to resell. Please don't ask for multiple items unless you can really use them. In other words, take what you need but need what you take. Don't be greedy.
Obviously, there is no warranty. Some items work like new. Other items were given to me because they were broken. If they are listed on this page then they work at least to a degree. I do guarantee that if any item does not perform to your satisfaction, you can simply bring it back or give it to someone else.
I don't ship anywhere. If you want something listed here, you'll have to come and get it.
Most of the items have a link you can click to see a photo or read specifications.
- There are quite a few printers so they're
on a separate page.

Dell Dimension 2400.

Briefly, this computer runs Windows XP Home on a Celeron 2.4GHz processor. It has 256 MB RAM and an 80GB hard drive. It also has a CD-R/W and a 3.5" floppy drive. No mouse, keyboard or monitor but, if I have some, I can fix up up with whatever you need. There are no reinstallation disks.

The monitor is a little small but in good condition. Nice picture quality.

Dell Inspiron 4000 laptop.

I got a lot of use out of this laptop. It has a couple of problems but I'll get to them later. Everything you see in the picture is included:- Laptop: Pentium III, 128MB RAM, 10GB HDD, 14" screen, Win ME.
- System reinstallation media, MS Works Suite 2003 w/ MS Word (you install).
-
Docking station, 2 AC adapters, CD ROM module,
Floppy drive module, 2 Battery modules (seems to run all day).
Adapter cable: parallel port to FDD or CD (alternative to using one of the drive bays). - Carrying case.
- 3Com 10/100 LAN Card w/ pigtail. Installed & ready to go.
Like I said, there are a few problems:- If the unit is flexed, say, by resting on a non-flat surface, the mouse pointer will drift - someimes slowly, sometimes fast. A tap on the touchpad or to either side of it (depending on the drift direction) usually settles the drift. Also reposition the laptop to sit flat with adequate support. I don't experience any of these problems when I use a large cutting board in my lap to support it.
- The screen sometimes goes a little crazy with the colors. This, too, seems related to flexing. Again, a slight tap helps: use the heal of your hand on the edge of the screen/lid. And adjust the laptop to sit flat with good support. I used a cutting board in my lap to support the laptop and didn't have the problem any more.
- The Ethernet port doesn't work. That's why I'm including the 3Com PCMCIA card.
There's a review of the laptop here. I think their's is outfitted a little better and costs $3100 more than this one but it is a good description of the basic machine.

Toshiba Portégé 3020CT Notebook Computer. (Photo)
This notebook has 96MB RAM, 6GB HDD and Windows 98 (nb, NOT 98SE). It's very small, very light. Included is a port replicator and floppy disk drive. Sorry, there is no CD drive - you'll have to connect to your home network and share a CD drive from one of your desktops. There are no system disks (ie, reinstallation disks).
It's got one USB port and 2 PCMCIA slots. I'm giving you a Noteworthy 56KB modem card but I don't have a Windows 98 compatible LAN card. I'll also give you a carrying case and (if you act fast) a brand new bright yellow stick pointer cap (see photo)!
The battery holds a charge but not for very long... I'm guessing about an hour's worth of use and about a day of walking around. Of course, there's an AC adapter included.
It's along in years but works well. If you can find a Windows 98FE compatible LAN card (3COM model 3CCFE574BT worked), you can browse the web or check e-mail. This little notebook has served me well and I will miss it.
I can't find any specs online but do a Google search on "Toshiba 3020CT" and you may find someone selling one on ebay where you'll see more pictures if not a few more details. (Remember - this one is free!)
- Assorted Components. (Photo)
I've got working CD/DVD/CD-RW drives, internal modems, cable modems, sound cards, video cards (nothing special), keyboards, 3-1/2" and 5-1/4" floppy drives, hard drives (in the single-digit GB range) and power supplies.
